MGM Spa Day Hack

MGM National Harbor Oxon Hill, MD

I recently paid off my car debt! To celebrate this accomplishment I planned a staycation at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. During my stay I visited the MGM Spa and Salon. Using ResortPass I found a day pass to access their spa for only $65+ tax. I used code REWARD20 for an additional 10% off. The day pass grants you access to the spa for 1-3 hours. This includes the sauna room, steam room and jacuzzi. There’s also two lounge areas where you can rest, read, write and enjoy the view.

When preparing your visit to the MGM Spa and Salon through ResortSpa you’ll need to select a day you wish to visit. I’d advice selecting a day that likely won’t be packed so you can hang around as long as you want. I went as soon as they opened at 10am. It was quiet most of my visit with a few people trickling in and out. I stayed for almost 3.5 hours. I suggest packing a bathing suit, water/shower shoes, change of clothes, toiletries, a water bottle. A few optional things to bring are headphones, a book and/or a journal. The space is not very large however it’s a good amount of space to relax and pace yourself through the amenities.

If you are interested in requesting additional service, the Spa and Salon offers massages, facials, hydrating wraps, hair care and hair removal. Look through their website (MGM Spa and Salon) to decide if you are interested in any of those services. If so, ResortPass requires you to reserve your additional services 24 hours in advance. You’ll need to call the Spa directly. Although you are not a hotel guest, ResortPass grants you full access to the spa like any guest staying at the MGM hotel. Enjoy it!

When you arrive at the MGM you’ll have access to complimentary parking in the garage. Don’t forget to note which floor you parked on. Take the parking garage elevator to the main floor which is the casino floor. As you follow the hotel lobby signs you’ll pass various restaurants, shopping stores, and beautiful art. Although you can’t take food or drinks into the Spa, you can scout the options for what you might want after your visit. Anyway, arrive 15-20 minutes early so you can enjoy the stroll to the hotel lobby. The lobby is not a typical lobby on this floor. Note, once you’ve passed the theater and restaurants you’ll come across some more elevators. Here, you will take the elevator to the 4th floor which is labeled ‘spa’. When you enter the spa you will be greeted by an associate who will have you check-in. It’s a very basic sign in sheet where you provide your name, number, emergency contact and your ResortPass confirmation code. Once completed they will escort you to the locker room where you will be provided a locker. You will set your own code. The locker comes with a robe and space for you to lock up your personal belongs.

I would rate the MGM Spa and Salon through ResortPass 4 out of 5 stars. The facility is beautiful. It’s clean and very well kept. The staff was friendly and treated me no different from hotel guests. If you happen to forget some items, no worries. They have extra toiletries available. You’ll even find disposal bikinis and shower shoes you can borrow. The outdoor pool was closed when I was there but I knew that ahead of time. However, I was left confused as one of the workers said the outpool was not accessible for anyone using ResortPass. I also was not aware of the 1-3 hour access timeframe. It wasn’t clear if I can leave and come back or once I leave I lost access to the spa.

Honey’s at the MGM National Harbor

I ended my visit at ‘Honey’s’. It’s a fried chicken restaurant located in the MGM. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and fries. The fries weren’t all that great however the chicken sandwich was quite delicious and worth trying. Overall, my stay was great. It was a much needed, relaxing time. I catered to my mental, physical and spiritual health while at the MGM. I not only would recommend visiting to others but would come back myself.
