Let’s Create

At the top of this year I designated each month to have a focus word. The purpose of this word is to remain encouraged and centered throughout that particular month. Decisions, actions and goals are based upon this word to exercise the muscle called discipline. I’ve dedicated the month October as LexUntangled’s month to “CREATE”. This simple word is define by google as “to bring into existence”. As we venture through the remainder of this month here are my top 5 suggestions on ways you can join me in bringing things into existence in your own life. In her postcast Broken crayons still color, Toni Collier stated beautifully, “we were each created to be creative”. If you’re up for the challenge be creative in how you execute the task of creating.

Create Boundaries

Oh my goodness. This is big for me. I’m sure some of you can relate to this in some fashion. Creating certain boundaries with people in our lives are crucial to our mental and emotional well-being. Yet, many of us struggle with putting up safe and reasonable boundaries. Saying “no” to others, and even yourself at times can be difficult. I once read a quote that said “always saying yes to others is saying no to yourself”. I don’t believe this is something we should accept. I’ve grasped an appreciation for placing boundaries for myself, and also for my little one. It helps protect the space we are in, no matter what’s going on around us. If we don’t create boundaries, people - good intentions or not - will overstep whether they know it or not.

Create Memories

I cannot stress this enough. Our lives are full of moments that turn into memories. Our experiences will naturally fluctuate between good and hard moments as this is a part of life. If hard times are guaranteed, use that as motivation to create good memories while you can. Celebrate life with those around you, those you love, and even by yourself. Try something new or explore this big world we live in until you have created memories you are excited to share with others. There are things in our own lives that individually brings us peace and joy. Instead of waiting for those moments to appear, invest in them then be determined to be fully present.

Create Space

Create space for yourself to rest, reflect and recover. Life gets busy. It will only continue if you aren’t intentional about creating space for what you need. Identify what you need then make space in your day to prioritize that thing. Create space for your friends that build you up and speak life to you. We all have certain relationships of importance. Those healthy relationships need some of your attention because they help push you forward in life. Find balance between creating space for yourself and for others.

Create Projects

I find creating new projects or completing old ones, satisfying. It’s a great feeling to watch something develop from an idea. It’s even better when it blesses someone else. A project could be anything from writing a book, getting that degree, getting serious about your fitness or even cleaning out your car. Work on something that will make you feel accomplished at the end of the month. This doesn’t have to be very time consuming. Just give yourself a small enough task to take your mind off the many demands in your own life.

Create Goals

We are in October, I get it. The year is almost over. That, however, doesn’t mean it’s too late to dream and reset goals. You still have time to accomplish more than you think if you commit yourself to it. Call it your ‘end of year goals’ if that helps mentally. Make them practical so your daily routines can be centered around them
